Tour of the Wild West Coast of Ireland
This is your opportunity to take part in a ride along the fantastic west coast of Ireland. Starting at Cork and travelling through some of the most beautiful scenery in Western Europe, around the peninsulas of Beara, Kerry & Bantry. See the 214 meter high Cliffs of Moher (Twice the height of the White Cliffs of Dover and far more dramatic), and the scenery that so many film producers have used for such films as Harry Potter, Ryans Daughter, The Quiet Man and many more. (yes don’t tell me, some of our younger members have never heard of the last two).
If you saw the recent Wild Ireland programme on ITV, or have travelled this way before, you will already appreciate how beautiful this part of the world is.
The ride will take approximately ten days and stop overnight at *Dublin, Bantry, Kenmare, Killarney, Tralee, Limerick, Lisdoonvarna & Galway.
You will be transported from home to the start point by minibus and ferry and have the backup of a competent bike mechanic. As well as carrying you and your bike to the drop off point, the minibus will Sherpa your luggage to your overnight stops and act as broom wagon should you fall by the wayside (but hopefully not off your bike).
All accommodation will be pre-booked and include a two night stop at Killarney where you will have a day off your bike so that you can recuperate, sample the Guinness or enjoy a leisurely tour by horse and trap up to the Gap of Dunlow, Kate Kearney’s Cottage and Molly’s Gap if you wish.
* Destinations may change and are subject to availability
At the moment George is hoping to run the trip in late August, but the dates and whether the trip goes ahead are dependant on the uptake.
Please contact George Kernaghan for more information.
