Ribble Valley. Time Trial Handicap Series

Ribble Valley. Time Trial Handicap Series

After much discussion in committee, it has been decided that for the 2012 season we will run a TT Mini-league for club members, with a view to introducing a club championship in the future.  The league would be based on a handicap system and, for 2012, would use the riders best 7 rides in the mid week PETTS series of 10 mile time trials. (There are 16  10’s in the PETTS series, including the Len Main Trophy event and excluding the 2 up)

The proposed handicap system is loosely based on the golf handicap system. For more details please see the attached document.

There will be a talk to explain the handicap system at the Club Night on the 6th of February.

Garstang CC. "Bowland Badass 2012"

Email from Justin Noble of Garstang CC.
Hello,

I'm a member of Garstang Cycling Club. This summer we completed a 165 mile challenge ride in the Bowland area with 18,500 feet of ascent. It was such fun a couple of us have decided to throw it open as a cheap and cheerful sportive/challenge ride next summer in early July, and
have called it the Bowland Badass. I'm writing to a few local clubs to see if any of your more full on members would like to take part . We will have to limit numbers so I think it would be nice to give all the North West's hard men (and ladies) a chance to enter before we go nationwide.

You can find details at the following address: www.bowlandbadass.com

Best regards,
Justin

"It is a really good ride, challenging but not too hard, with excellent

Bike Thefts in Preston

Message from Neil Higgins (Local cyclist and PCSO)

Hi all,

I have been asked by my Sargeant to tell as many cyclists living in and around Preston to be aware of thieves targeting cyclist’s homes, so please make sure that where you store your bikes is well maintained. Eg.  the locks on the garage/shed doors are of good quality and in good working order. It is also recommended that you:

  • Fit security lights outside your homes
  • Take photographs of your bikes
  • Get shed outbuildings alarmed.
  • Never leave your bike on view.

If you see anyone or any vehicles eg. vans in your street that you are not happy about  please contact:

Preston main Police station on:  01772 203203.
