David Oak MBE
Chairman

Chairman of RVCRC since October 2009. Something of a ‘returnee’ to cycling now I have the time that retirement affords.
As a young man, and as a member of North Wirral Velo, I was involved with most of the disciplines of cycling but now, apart from the administration of the club, confine myself to touring.
I have lived in Preston for almost 20 years now, this after touring the world with the British Infantry. Operating throughout the North West region, I was awarded the MBE in 2005 for services to the cadet youth movement. Two grown-up families, a very elderly Mum, and a PNE season ticket holder. Principal personal enjoyment – fresh air !
With regard to Ribble Valley Cycling and Racing Club, whilst every facet of cycling is encouraged and supported, the most important aspect, as far as I am concerned, is the ‘soul’ of the club. The club meetings every Monday evening, in our own club room, engender this spirit and encourage and reward active membership.
I feel it is a privilege to head up the management committee in order to work for the benefit of all Ribble Valley members, be they tourers, racers, time-triallers or mountain-bikers.
