Beginners Rides
We hold beginners rides on the first Sunday of each month from March-November. These rides are ideally suited to novice riders and those just starting out in cycling.
We'll always take it nice and gentle, riding at a leisurely pace across mostly flat terrain. You'll cover approximately 20-30 miles on the day (depending on weather conditions and group ability).

For more information contact Janette (01772) 717385, or Doreen (01772) 617236.

Steady Rides

Our steady rides, held every Sunday, are ideal for riders returning to cycling after a long break and experienced riders looking for a pleasant, social ride.
Distance, speed and terrain covered is usually more than the beginners ride but will vary depending on the ability of the group on the day.

Intermediate Rides

A range of more challenging rides for more experienced riders, with two groups riding every Sunday.
You'll notice these rides go at a faster pace and cover a significantly greater distance, usually 50-80 miles (depending on weather, terrain and ability of group). On these rides, we will always have at least one café stop.

Faster Rides

These are specific rides for racing and sportive riders and are held every Sunday. As the name suggests, these rides are at a fast pace, ideal preparation for racing competitions. These rides will also feature a café stop.

General

All our rides start from Preston College, St Vincents Road, Fulwood. PR2 8UR.
Start times: 9:00 a.m. (March-November) and 10:00 a.m. (December-February)
You can use any roadworthy bike and wear any suitable clothing (why not check out our CLOTHING section for some RVCRC Club clothing? Waterproofs and a helmet are advised.
We recommend you bring 2 spare inner tubes and a bicycle pump, accidents can happen!

Guidelines for riding in a group

Ride a maximum of two abreast where possible and single up where road conditions require it.   This is the recommendation of the “ Highway Code” and is common courtesy to other road users.

Select the group most suitable for your standard of riding. This means that you get a good ride and are not either struggling to keep up or forcing the pace for the rest of the group.

During the ride please warn the riders behind of potholes, cars, pedestrians etc.

If you are unsure of anything please ask one of the more experienced riders.

These are just guidelines to make the Sunday ride an enjoyable experience for everybody.

For a more comprehensive set of guidelines for riding in a group please check out this CTC website link.
