Summary of Rides

BEGINNERS RIDES

  • Held once every month, on the 1st Sunday, from March to November (inclusive)
  • Ideally suited to the novice rider.
  • The pace will be leisurely and the terrain mainly flat. Distance covered will depend on weather and the ability of the group, but would be approximately 20-30 miles. For more information contact Janette (01772) 717385, or Doreen

STEADY RIDES

  • Held every Sunday.
  • Useful for a rider who is returning to cycling after a long break
  • Also popular with more experienced riders who want a pleasant, social ride.
  • Distance, terrain and speed will vary according to the abilities of the group but they are usually always faster and longer than a ‘beginners’ ride.

INTERMEDIATE RIDES

  • Held every Sunday
  • There are usually two ‘intermediate’ groups.
  • These are more challenging rides, held at a faster pace and useful for more experienced riders.
  • Guideline distance – 50 to 80 miles, depending on time of year, weather, terrain and ability of group.
  • At least one café stop.

FASTER RIDES

  • Held every Sunday
  • Useful for racing/sportive riders
  • Usually one café stop.

GENERAL

  • All rides start from Preston College at 9 a.m. (March-November) and 10 a.m. (December-February) click here for map.
  • You can use any roadworthy bike and wear any suitable clothing (lycra is not essential). However, you are advised to bring a waterproof. A helmet is also advisable.
  • You should bring 2 spare inner tubes and a bicycle pump.
  • All rides will incorporate a refreshment stop but it is advisable to bring a drink and an energy/cereal bar.
  • All rides are subject to change.
